A look into Heat Sink in the Down and Dirty anthology

~ Blurb ~

* Christian Harrington went to work every day as a steamfitter at the local nuclear energy plant with some expectation of danger. When Christian meets fiery bartender Roxy McVee he quickly realizes he may have met his match. Unfortunately, Christian is not the only person with their sights set on Roxy.
* Roxy McVee had wanted a fresh start. Slinging drinks and telling jokes at the local bar in Upstate NY seemed like a great way to go. Her decision is rewarded when serious but sexy as hell Christian Harrington walked into the bar with his friends after work. Roxy’s immediate reaction to him leads her to become comfortable around him. Unfortunately, the reason for Roxy’s move proves that the saying that the things one resist, persist is true. Roxy and Christian must navigate a potentially deadly landmine in the form of one very dangerous visitor from her past.

~ Excerpt ~

* “I actually love most food, and I’m not a vegetarian. Do you cook for ladies often? Never mind. You don’t have to answer that. I don’t even know why I asked.” Shaking her head, Roxy could feel her face flush. Why did she asked such a personal question?
* “I don’t mind answering. You’re the first non-relative female I’ve cooked for, or invited over for that matter. I work a lot. It doesn’t leave me a lot of time to host get-togethers with the fairer sex.” His wry expression caused goosebumps to rise over her arms.
* “Well, I’m glad I happened to meet you at the right time, then.” Roxy was unused to the butterflies floating around in her stomach at his response.
* “What about you? I know what Manny said, but I’m assuming you’ve got a pretty steady stream of date offers.” Christian plate before putting a bite in his mouth.
* “I do, but you’re actually the first I’ve accepted in a few years.” She followed suit by eating some of her lasagna.
* “Why did you accept mine?” His voice was soft, and he was no longer eating but watching her closely.
* “I…it’s hard to explain. You felt right. I don’t mean in the literal sense. You just weren’t someone I wanted to say no to.” She took another bite out of nervousness, but closed her eyes at the taste of melted ricotta and paremsian cheese blending with the perfectly cooked lasagna noodles and a red sauce she would bet was home made.
* “This is amazing by the way.” Changing the subject seemed like the best choice at the time. Roxy wasn’t comfortable with spilling her guts on the first date, even if she meant everything she’d said.
* “Thank you, I watched a video on how to make my own sauce. The rest is pretty easy.” He shrugged but took another bite.
* They ate the rest of their meal, talking about their respective work.
* “Do you get a lot of Homer Simpson jokes when you tell people you work at nuclear reactors?” Roxy helped him load the dishwasher and accepted the cold beer he offered.
* “No, mainly because I don’t actually work in the operation of it. I’m there to make sure their systems that create and carry the steam power through the reactor stay safe and functional. Most of the time, I’m in there is for planned maintenance or during shutdowns for renovations.”
* “Well, that makes sense then. Do you like donuts, though?” Roxy couldn’t resist.
* Christian laughed and nodded. “I do, in fact like donuts, but I don’t eat them much. Want to see something great?”
* Before Roxy could agree, he was leading her upstairs to an open loft area that led to one of the wraparound deck doors. Once outside, they were treated to a full view of the moon and stars in the night sky.
* “Wow, that’s beautiful. Do you spend a lot of time out here?” Roxy leaned against the railing and inhaled the smell of lilacs growing around the property.
* Christian put his hands on either side of her on the deck and spoke from behind her. “I do, it’s where I recalibrate myself.”
* “Oh, talk steamfitter to me.” Roxy shivered but pressed back so that her back was flush against his chest and pressed against him rather than just caged by his arms.
* “Hmm, fire caulk…” Christian’s arms wrapped around her and she felt his chin rested on the top of her head.
* Roxy erupted into giggles and hugged his arms to her. “You’re the whole package aren’t you Christian?”
* “I don’t know what you mean.” Christian nuzzled her ear, the tingles moving from the affected part down her body to less directly involved places.
* “You work hard, you’re talented, you’re smart, and you have a sense of humor. What’s your downside?” She pushed into his wayward mouth and bit her lip.
* Christian nibbled on her earlobe and murmured, “Most likely that I’m slow to decide things but when I do want something I’m pretty laser focused.”
* The vibration of his voice against her skin pulled an involuntary moan from her lips. “I would say that’s a bonus in most things.”
* “You’d have to let me know, since I’m focused on you.” Roxy shivered hard at the words and arched back against him.
* “I’d say from where I’m standing, it’s pretty fuckin awesome.”

A look into Where Fire Meets Flame in the Down and Dirty anthology

~ Blurb ~

* As a private detective, Riley Scott has witnessed her fair share of the ugly side of relationships. She guards her heart like a fortress, but a pair of sizzling blue eyes threatens to take down all of her barriers. He came to her rescue through a blazing fire. Now, she could only hope he would not incinerate her heart.
* Tristan Cain hasn’t been able to let go of his red-headed angel, or his promise to get justice. Fate throws them together again when he once thought it would be impossible, and when a daring rescue turns out to be the least of their worries, Tristan vows to keep her safe. He’s not letting Riley out of his sight again.

~ Excerpt ~

* Dance with me?”
* So engrossed in her conversation with Tristan, Riley hadn’t even noticed the dance floor was starting to fill up. She reveled in the idea of finally being close to him after so many times imagining it. “I’d love to.”
* They polished off the rest of their second round of drinks and Tristan took her hand and led her to the dance floor. She noticed Terry dancing it up with an attractive guy, possibly in his early to mid-thirties, and not one of the guys from James’ table. When their eyes met, Terry winked at her, and Riley already anticipated the grilling she’d receive from him later.
* “I’m glad to see he’s having fun,” she said close to Tristan’s ear. He had his arms wrapped loosely around her waist as they slowly swayed from side to side despite the medium tempo. “He just broke up with someone yesterday.”
* Tristan glanced over to where Terry was dancing and wearing a huge grin. “He doesn’t look very torn up about it.” His breath tickled her ear as he spoke, his voice deep and smooth like velvet, causing a shiver to travel up and down her spine, and she wondered what else he could do to her with other parts of him if just his voice had this much of an effect on her.
* “As he shouldn’t,” Riley managed to say after barely composing herself. “His ex-boyfriend is Kevin’s brother, the guy you saw me with at the coffee shop.”
* Tristan threw his head back and laughed. She felt the rumble in his chest, anticipating what he would say next just so she could feel his warm breath tingle on her skin again. “Not a match made in heaven either then, I gather?”
* She shook her head.
* Tristan brought his head close to hers, skimming his nose against her own. She was grateful for the added height tonight with her four-inch heels, though he still had to bend somewhat. At five foot four inches tall and the fact that she usually wore boots or shoes with some sort of heel, she never really felt all that petite, despite being right at the cusp. Tristan was just extremely tall, taller than anyone she’d ever dated. Somehow, with the way his arms were wrapped around her, his body close, heat rising between them, he made her feel protected. No one had ever made her feel that way before, not really. Her dad and now Terry were the only two people she’d ever really trusted. With everyone else, she always wore a tough exterior, spikes and barbed wire, to ward off anyone who tried to mess with her.
* Could she possibly let this man break through all that?
* He lifted her chin so she would look at him. She saw the question of permission in his eyes, and with a slight nod, she gave it to him. Her eyes closed, their lips met, tentatively at first, and she opened for him, their tongues meeting half way. His lips were soft and the dance his tongue was doing with hers was slow and sensual. Soon, the kiss became deeper, bolder. She could feel his length hardening against her as he pulled her in closer, her own body reacting and filling with need for him.
* His kisses became more playful after a while, nipping at her top and bottom lip in turn until he pulled away from her completely. He looked suddenly angry as he stepped back from Riley, putting a gap of distance between them.
* Riley turned, following his line of sight and immediately saw the reason for his anger.

* Sasha Palmer, a travel writer, never stays in one place long enough to find even the possibility of love. The baggage of her family keeps her closed off from everyone, but one day, love finds her in the form of strong arms, wrapping around her, and pulling her to safety from oncoming traffic. One look at Rome, and she’s a goner.
* Roman “Rome” Valentin is a killer … and a good one at that. He leads a life he detests, full of self-loathing until the day he meets Sasha. She barrels into his life and steals the heart he didn’t know he still had … and then she vanishes.
* Their two families have been at war for decades. Will a chance meeting and a passionate growing love end the bitter feud or spark a battle that may destroy them all?

~ Excerpt ~

* Sasha found herself pressed against the façade of a bright yellow apartment building. The street they had been walking down was nearly deserted, when the two of them suddenly exchanged heated glances. He pushed her up against the building and kissed her fiercely, one of his hands cradling the back of her head, while the other was right below her ass as she hitched her leg around him. She threaded her hand into his hair and fisted the front of his shirt again with her other hand, moaning into his mouth as the kiss consumed them both, letting out two days’ worth of fire and heat. She felt his hard length pressing into her, wanting to take him inside her body and lose herself in him.
* He slowed their kiss down. “Do you want me to take you back to your hotel now?” he whispered against her lips.
* “No,” she whispered back. She nipped his bottom lip, driving him to kiss her fervently again.
* He pulled back to look at her, his face riddled with desire. “I ache so badly for you, Sasha.”
* “Then have me,” she said. “I want you, too, Rome.”
* His hotel was closer to their location, only two blocks away. They walked briskly without a word until they were inside his room.
* “God, what you do to me,” he said, his voice gravelly, right before he cupped her face and delivered another impassioned kiss.
* He removed his hands from her face, and lowered them to cup her ass, pulling her closer to him. Sasha moaned into his mouth as he hoisted her up to straddle his waist. He then carried her to the side of the bed in the center of the room and laid her down on her back so that her bottom was at the edge and her legs dangled off the side.
* He gave her a hungry look, pushed her legs up closer to her before spreading them wide. “Leave them like that,” he ordered.
* She made a low “uh” sound in response, never having been so turned on in her entire life. He pushed her sundress up to the middle of her stomach and licked his lips as he stared at her panty-clad swollen flesh. She let out a moan in response.
* Using only one finger, he slowly traced the center of her cleft. His breathing was harsh. “I can feel how wet you are for me even through here.” And just as achingly slow, he hooked a finger on each side of her underwear by her hip and pulled them off her, and then spread her legs back open to their previous position.
* She felt so vulnerable, yet so turned on with the way he was hungrily staring at her most intimate part. He dipped his head, and immediately followed the path his finger had done, only this time with his tongue. Sasha moaned loudly at the contact.
* “Even your pussy tastes sweet,” he said against her flesh.
* Rome tortured her at first, licking all around her outer and inner lips, avoiding that tight little bundle of nerves she wanted to beg him to taste until finally, she did beg. “Please, Rome, please.”
* His soft chuckle against her only made her feel needier until he took pity on her and gave her what she wanted. He sucked her clit into his mouth, making her whimper, and then he ate her as if she were his most delicious dessert, lips, tongue, teeth, driving her to the edge quickly.
* She screamed, her orgasm hitting her so fiercely, it blurred her vision for a moment. His mouth did not release her until her body calmed.
* “You’re so beautiful when you come,” he said, his voice gravelly.
* She gave him a lazy smile when he stood up to remove his shirt. She sat up then, to undo the button on his jeans while he watched her with his eyes hooded. She bit her bottom lip as she lowered his zipper, returning the favor by tormenting him with her slowness. Then, instead of touching him where he wanted, she traced the hard lines of his six-pack abs, up to his muscular chest, and then she brought them lower again all the way down to his perfect V. Rome’s body was a work of art. Michelangelo’s David came to mind.
* Deciding she couldn’t wait any longer to taste him, she freed his hard cock, thick, long, and cut. He was beautiful. He shucked his pants all the way down, and as soon as he stepped out of them and came closer to her, she sucked him into her mouth, taking him as far as she could go.
* His moans of enjoyment only urged her on, knowing she was driving him as crazy as he had her. She licked up and down his shaft a few times before popping him back in, and concentrating on the head.
* “Enough,” he said gruffly, popping himself out of her mouth. “I want to come inside you.”

Today we have author Beth D. Carter visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?

* I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate high-rollers. I try to write characters who aren’t cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box. I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

A look into…

~ Interview ~

* Thank you so much for hosting me today! In A Chord is a re-release, previously published through another publishing house. I was unsatisfied with the story because a writer’s craft constantly grows and gets better with every manuscript written. Plus, I really hated the cover. In this business, you really are judged by the cover so with those two things in mind, I decided to take back the rights, rework the plot a little and lucky for me, Evernight said yes.
What inspired you to begin writing In A Chord? What trivial events could you explain behind writing your story?
* Music is a big inspiration to me and I wanted to write something set in that genre. In my younger days, I used to go dancing a lot, and the best clubs were always pounding out the base. I discovered the better the beat, the sexier the feeling. Swaying hips, rushing excitement. It is definitely a very seductive atmosphere. When I dreamt up these characters, I wanted to bring that rush into the story.
Tell us about the characters.
* The title is actually a play on words…a chord is three notes (or more) in harmony. I started out with the two men, Ash and Keaton, two men into heavy metal. Head bangers in their teenage years, starting a band up in the parent’s garage. I needed a female who understood both, because each has their own personality. This is where the band, Skillet, comes into the picture. One song, “Awake and Alive”, has a female voice and a fiddle, and that just made Momo come to life.
Was there as specific part of the story that you absolutely loved writing as well as not enjoyed writing?
* To make the characters more human, I wrote a scene where one of the men is coming out of the bathroom, warning Momo not to go in for a bit. I found it really funny.
* There wasn’t much in this book I didn’t enjoy writing. I’m a very liner type of writer, meaning I don’t really jump around scenes too much. I start at point A and finish at point Z. So, sometimes just writing the in between stuff, the ordinary day to day, can be tedious because your job is to still make that monotony interesting.
What other projects are you working on at the moment?
* Currently, I am working on a book where a woman finds out that her marriage certificate was never filed, making her not really married. This happened to friends of mine and I always wondered what would’ve happened if they’d not found out.
* I have the follow up to my book Take Aim & Reload (Forgotten Rebels MC #4) in the works.
* One of my publishers went out of business and I have the rights back to some of my books, so I’ll be working on those as well, making them better and resubmitting them to Evernight. (Fingers crossed)
* Whatever I write, it’ll have erotica romance themes through it.

~ Blurb ~

* Keaton Gates and Ashland Lance are lovers and musicians in a band called Endymion. Keaton believes there is something missing, not only from the sound of their music, but also in their lives. When he hears Momo Willows singing Endymion’s signature song, he knows she’s the muse he’s been waiting for.
* At first, Ash Lance is jealous of the new girl in Keaton’s life until he meets her. Momo is unlike anyone he’s ever met and they soon discover that they connect on many levels. But he’s reluctant to take her away from Keaton just as Momo refuses to come between them.
* Keaton is quick to assure them he wants all three of them to learn to be in a ménage relationship, but as they learn how to live and love together, another threat is moving between them, threatening to take Momo away….forever.
This is a previously published work. It has been revised and edited for Evernight Publishing.
Be Warned: menage sex (MMF), anal sex, spanking, m/m sex

~ Excerpt ~

* “Keaton, Momo and I…we, um, kissed.”
* He saw Keaton shoot a look at Momo, then down at her hand on his knee, then back to Ash. “What?”
* “Keaton,” Momo murmured, shame shining on her face. “It just happened and I’m so sorry. There’s something tangible between he and I, just like I felt toward you, and that’s why I don’t think I can be with you—”
* “She knows about us,” Ash interrupted her, picking up her hand. He saw Keaton’s gaze follow the gesture. “She doesn’t want to get between us.”
* “What?” Keaton said again, his tone going a bit deeper.
* “She figured it out but it felt right to tell her.” He ran an agitated hand through his hair. Momo took her hand back and placed it in her lap. “Keaton, man, I don’t know what to say.”
* He sat silent for a moment, obviously thinking things over. “Is that why you tried to bail earlier?”
* She nodded.
* “Is that all you did? Just kiss?”
* “Yeah. That’s it, I swear. I mean, I wanted to do more, but I know she’s your girl—”
* “Ash, it’s okay.”
* Ash waited because he knew something more had to be coming. If Keaton were to tell him to stand and take a punch, he would be jumping up and bracing himself.
* “No, Ash, it’s really okay,” Keaton assured him.
* Ash saw the surprise he felt mirrored on Momo’s face. Keaton just smiled at them.
* “For a while I knew that something was missing in our lives,” Keaton continued. “Not between you and me because I love you, you know, but I knew there was something out of place. I just didn’t know what, and then, when I heard Momo sing, when I talked to her and heard her passion for our music, it all kind of clicked.”
* “What clicked?”
* “That missing element in our music, in our lives, was her.”
