* It’s been a long time since I did a post that didn’t have to do with a book. But better late than never, eh?
* For those who follow me on Instagram & Twitter (don’t yet? click on the info to the right –>) you know that along with writing I’ve been painting. Picked up the hobby a few years ago and started learning by watching A LOT of videos, reading websites, picking up & reading some books (of course), and lots and lots of trial and error. I feel that I’ve slowly been getting better while I’m trying to find my “voice” in this colorful art form.
* Now, “poetry?” you ask. Yeah. Used to write quite a bit of poetry when I was younger. But then I morphed in to horror stories and then romance and now it’s a smattering of many genres with and without romantic elements. Anyway, as I was watching one of my favorite teaches on YouTube

a free style poem came to mind so I wrote it down. I then found some time in the past few days and painted the piece. Today, I wanted to share the finished products.

Butterfly Wings
Do you remember the days
We sat beneath our favorite tree
Watching the birds and clouds float by
Lazy days of spring and summer
Just you and I enjoying a love
That we’d imagined would last forever
~ *~
Don’t let the divide take us
Don’t let the endless night break us
Send me a sign your always by my side
Let me hear the songbirds sing
Let me feel the butterfly wings
~ *~
Do you remember the nights
Making love upon the hill
Sheltered by the branches
Of the tree your granny had planted
Wrapped in each other’s arms
Enjoying a love that wouldn’t do us wrong
~ *~
Don’t let the divide take us
Don’t let the endless night break us
Send me a sign your always by my side
Let me hear the songbirds sing
Let me feel the butterfly wings
Oh, let me hear you sing again
Let me feel your touch
Like butterfly wings
Once more
