Vampocalypse
by E.S. Brown
Genre: SciFi Fantasy
Vampires have infiltrated the highest offices of the United States government.
Secretly working with top scientists in the CDC and the nation’s most prestigious universities, this clandestine network creates the ultimate weapon for the undead: a particle bomb that, once detonated, transforms any humans within the blast radius into vampires. The world’s human leaders deploy nuclear weapons in a desperate attempt to quell the out-of-control vampire infestation. In their quest for global domination, the vampires propel the world into the greatest of all wars. A nuclear winter envelops the planet, which provides a haven for the vampires to rise up and fully realize their domination over humankind.
Prater Saxon, a half-human/half-vampire survivor in the post-apocalyptic aftermath of the war, lives alone in a world in ruins. Despite his efforts to maintain his solitude as he makes his way through the desolate wastelands, Prater finds himself drawn into a new war brewing between the humans and vampires.For millennia, humans ruled the Earth.
Their rule…may have finally come to an end.
VAMPOCALYPSE is a dark, gritty, post-apocalyptic tale of survival in a land out of resources, high in crime, and overrun with vampires. When the military can’t stop the danger, it’s up to one man to lead the charge against annihilation.
Fans of The Walking Dead will love E.S. Brown’s newest novel.

Today we have author Lucille Moncrief visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?

* Lucille Moncrief, authoress of The Keystone Curse and the dark erotic paranormal romance series Nefarious, was clearly a stodgy old librarian in a past life. She loves poring over history books and binge-watching PBS’s Secrets Of series. With an avaricious penchant for all things steampunk, Lucille’s breakthrough series, Nefarious, is custom-illustrated with exploding dirigible airships. And unnecessary gears abound.
* When Ms. Moncrief is not yelling at the kids to get off her lawn, you can find her staring out her window pretending to be pensive. She’s usually in a good mood and readily accepts follows and friend requests to her Facebook page.

Chapter III ~ Present Time ~ Talcott Henderson
* Her eyes shone in the darkness with fresh tears as she recounted such a horrific tale. I longed to lick them from her lashes. The scent of such pungent, lingering sorrow coursing throughout her veins had my talons stinging like hornets, and I painfully itched to suck her dry until she came-to on the other side of death in my cold arms, where nothing ever hurt but the insatiable bloodlust. As she wiped at her face with her sleeve, I readjusted the pillows, stood, and approached her.
* “What became of the estate?” I asked.
* She shook her head. “I never returned.”
* Interesting. My mouth watered and burned.
* “It sits there? Unoccupied?”
* Sniffling like a dainty fool, she gave a small nod. Now I knew from whence we would reign, my tender bride and I.
* With Lucius dead and The Quartermaine alone the sole focus of her hatred, I was free to do with her as I wished. I could leave her be, but no fun would be had by either party. I could drain her dry right then and there, but then she would be a perishable good. No, no—I would turn her like I’d initially planned. But I would remain as her sire, her king, her master. I threatened to cry blood-stained tears of joy.
* The heat, the life rolled off her in delectable waves as I outstretched my arms. I expected her to recoil at my gesture, but surprise of all surprises, she fell against me like seismically shaken, crumbling bricks. She shook against my chest as her sorrowful tears soaked into my shirt. The perfume of it was like the sharp rays of the darkening moon—silvery, faintly sweet like almond milk. I carried her to the bed as my gums itched, my talons growing beneath the backs of her knees and entwining into her soft, fragrant hair.
* I placed her onto the bed. She looked up at me, her eyes wide, beautifully sad. I felt myself harden, electrifying into a ravenous fiend. The vein in her neck pulsated as I loomed over her, transmogrifying into my full, devilish form. I traced the outline of that precious vein with the sharp edge of my talon, and again to my surprise and delight, her eyelids fluttered closed, she sighed, and by tilting her head, she exposed herself to me in such exquisite submission.
* My fangs burst forth into sharp rapiers, and as she lay beneath me, prone and softly open, tear-stained, resigned, I merely stood still and drank in the draught of her; like tangy meringue, or a moist devil’s food cake, and leaned down to her carotid. I blew upon the sensitive flesh with ice-cold exhalation, tasting her shiver in the air, and my fingertips shook at this tender prey. I was the shark in the water, the hawk as it circled the terrified field mouse, the lone wolf as he prowled the edge of darkness, growling like the flames of hell. The points of my fangs touched the edge of her unbroken skin, but with the beat of her heart, I was at once repelled.
* My stomach lurched in a somersault as worry tugged at me, and I leaned down again to take a bite of her. Another strong thump, and a pulsating forcefield hit me in the gut, pushing me away like I was the wrong end of a magnet. The back of my legs hit the hard edge of the window seat, and at their meeting, like a tuning fork hitting a dissonant bell, my worry turned to complete and utter panic.

a look at ‘The Beauty of Forever’ by Elyzabeth M. VaLey @ElyzabethVaLey @evernightpub #Holiday #Paranormal

A Christmas Realm Tale, 1
Once dead, always dead.

Christopher Beaufort works in what could easily be the most cheerful place on earth, Santa’s Christmas Realm, but as a vampire, he is nothing more than a shadow among the living.

Worn out by the demands of his job as Chief Toy Officer, Santa assigns a human woman to help him, Samantha Kraus. Tantalized by the fiery red-head, Christopher makes it his business to seduce her, but as he does, something within him begins to stir.

Life is a gift in which every moment counts.

When Samantha Kraus accepted the job of assistant manager at Santa’s, she expected elves, fairies and maybe some shifters, but definitely not vampires. Least of all did she imagine her boss would be one of them or that she’d be attracted to him.

Though she tries to remain professional, Samantha finds herself falling for Christopher. But, can a vampire’s heart ever beat again?

Thank you for having me on your blog today!
I’m excited to share my latest release with you, The Beauty of Forever (A Christmas Realm Tale I). This is the first story in a new paranormal – holiday themed series, which revolves around Santa’s kingdom in the North Pole and the different people who work for him.
Music is an essential part of my writing. It equally inspires and drives me. A certain combination of musical notes can create images in my mind which can range from a moment of dialogue to a full-blown scene and it can draw me into the world I’m envisioning.
Although metal and rock are my favorite music genre, when it comes to writing with music, anything goes as long as it fits the story and its characters.
In the case of The Beauty of Forever, I was inspired by a few Christmas tunes, but it was one band which held center stage. They were a new group for me and I had decided to explore their music on Spotify. When I started listening to their latest album, Swan Songs II, magic came to life and my fingers couldn’t stop typing out Christopher and Samantha’s story. Below, are the top 3 tracks that inspired The Beauty of Forever, and which I invite you to listen to when you read the book.
The Broken Ones by Lord of the Lost ~ This is Christopher’s song. Somehow, whenever I immersed myself in his thoughts this song played in the background. We are not the heroes, my friend. We are the broken ones. Through damnation we run.
My Better Me ~ Those moments of self-doubt. Is their relationship worth it? Are they enough for each other?
Lighthouse ~ Wake up. Wake up. This song inspired the moment things began to change between Christopher and Samantha.
How important is music for you? Do you like to listen to something while reading? Let me know in the comments!
Excerpt:
* “That went well with Jacobs, right?” she blurted, searching for a distraction.
* Christopher looked at her. The intensity in his gaze threw her back and her knees weakened.
* “Yes,” he replied. “You were fantastic. I can see now why Santa hired you.” His mouth thinned. “Jacobs was practically salivating after you.”
* Samantha blinked, surprised by the ferocity in his tone. “I don’t know him as well as you do, but from what he spoke, he seemed devoted to his wife.”
* “It’s not what I saw.”
* She smiled, trying to ignore the low timber of his voice and the way it curled in her belly, heating her from the inside out.
* “Is that why you were glaring at him while we were working?” she joked.
* “I wasn’t glaring. I was simply—” Christopher raked his gaze over her. “Watching.”
* Samantha shivered. She lifted her chin. “And did you observe anything of interest?”
* Christopher slid his arms to the height of her elbows. He didn’t touch her, but the hairs on her body rose. Nerve ends tingled. Christopher leaned in. “Absolutely.”
* “Mind sharing?”
* What was she asking? She knew full well they weren’t talking about work anymore, but she couldn’t stop herself. Her body had taken over her mind and all it wanted was for Christopher to come closer. She craved to see him bring out his humanity in the most carnal way possible.
* “I’m not sure you’re ready.”
* “Try me.”
* Christopher grinned. His gaze held a warning which she should have heeded because the moment his lips touched hers, she knew she was lost. Burying his hand into her hair, he slanted his head and dove into her mouth. Like a flower urgently seeking sunshine, she opened up to him. His groan reverberated through her and she arched against him. His minty taste swept over her, taking her by surprise. Holding her firmly, he devoured her like a man starved of nourishment. Each stroke of his tongue drew her further away from reality, into a bubble where only they existed. Desperate to find something to hold on to, to keep her grounded, Samantha fisted his shirt.
* It didn’t help. The world vanished, leaving only him behind. His essence. His strength. The heat of his passion, which she frantically desired.
* The train lurched to a stop and they stumbled, breaking apart. Gasping for air, Samantha stared at Christopher. His eyes had deepened to an indigo blue and he had a wildness to him that spoke of danger and unyielding hunger. For her? She swallowed. She had to stop this now. Before it got too far. It was one thing to flirt with him so he would smile, and another one entirely different to kiss on a train full of people.
* “Christopher—”
* People shoved their way out of the wagon, drawing them close again. Christopher wrapped her in his arms. His scent flooded her and for an instant, she shut her eyes and pretended the sound against her ear wasn’t her own heart thrashing, but his, beating.
* But it wasn’t. The knowledge chilled her to the bones. Christopher wasn’t really alive. He spoke and he moved but his heart was dead. How did he even exist?
* The piercing whistle of the shutting doors signaled the train’s departure. Christopher tilted her chin.
* “Are you all right?”
* Samantha sucked in her cheeks.
* “Christopher, we can’t do this,” she said.
* “By this, I imagine you’re talking about the kiss?
* She nodded.
* “Why not, Samantha?”
* He stroked her bottom lip with his thumb, leaving a tingling trail which echoed in other parts of her body. Damn it all if she didn’t want to nip his finger and tease him. She yearned to kiss him again, to feel his unpredictable heat against her.
* “I don’t see the problem. We’re both adults and we’re attracted to each other,” he continued.
* You’re not alive.
* “We need to work together. Things could get complicated,” she said instead.
* Christopher cupped her cheek. His eyes narrowed and he set his jaw. “Complicated?”
* “We work together,” she repeated.
* Wanting you scares me. It’s unnatural.
* Christopher raised his eyebrows.
* “I see.” He disentangled himself from her. Samantha shivered and fought the urge to wrap her arms around herself. Christopher smirked. He knew.
* “I’ll respect your wishes, Samantha. For now. But, just remember, doll, I’m an animal of prey. What I want, I hunt down and get. I’ve lived long enough to know I want you, Samantha, and a night of hot, passionate sex won’t make things, as you put it, complicated.” The train started to slow again. Their stop was next. Christopher leaned in. “Sooner or later, doll, I will have you.”
