~ * ~ ABOUT THE BOOK ~ * ~

This story is the second book in my series called Helldorado Mongrels MC. The series follows different immortal shifter families, a couple of humans, and the quest for stolen gold. It takes place in southern Nevada. I’d been toying with the idea for this series for the past few years after catching an episode of Haunted Highway on Syfy regarding the Hellhounds of Eldorado Canyon.

In book two, Seduced by Him, two human brothers are at the end of their camping trip in the canyon where, as teenagers, they had a frightening experience in a gold mine when confronted with wolves. Jarrod Russell, one of the heroes of this story, is jealous his brother found love, and he wonders when he’ll find his other half. Which doesn’t take long since he runs into him in a store and then in a casino.

Jarrod and Tex, the sexy stranger (who is based off of Brock O’Hurn in case you were wondering 😉 ) he keeps running into, have a one night stand that’s turning into something more when Jarrod is kidnapped by Tex’s fellow Helldorado Mongrels MC members.

Want to know what happens when Jarrod finds out the guy he’s super attracted to is an immortal wolf shifter and if he escapes the Mongrels? Well, you’ll just have to read the book now, won’t you? *wink*

Wolf shifter and member of the Helldorado Mongrels MC, Dante “Tex” Valentin is restless and dissatisfied. He goes on a ride in search of excitement, never expecting to encounter his mate—a human male, who disrupts his world.

Jarrod Russell is envious his brother, Cameron, found love. Wondering if fortune will ever smile on him the same way, he runs into a man who rocks his world. A man he believes could be the love of his life.

When Jarrod and Tex’s paths cross again, a passion-filled night connects them. Because of who they are, though, they’re in danger from the Mongrels. Will their relationship be over before they even have a chance to love?

The crowd’s excitement grated on Tex. Didn’t these people feel anything for a fallen comrade? Especially those related to the deceased? How could Preach be happy about a death of a family member?

Two short and quick horn blasts signaled everyone’s dismissal.

Tex turned to head back to the clubhouse and grab a beer. The fight hadn’t perked up his mood. He had to do something to shake his disquiet.

Maybe I’ll go hold up a store.

Thumbs hurried to his side. “You sure you fine? You don’t seem fine. You know if you fight you never die. You not related to anyone here.”

“That’s true,” Tex replied. He hadn’t been a miner’s dog or a feral one. He wasn’t a Shinan wolf. He was from a Nagul shifter line and had traveled to Nevada, back in the gold and silver rush days, to find his fortune. He’d just happened to have been in wrong place at wrong time and got cursed with the rest of the poor animal souls in the area. Yet like Thumbs reminded him, it was a good thing. No one here could murder him since only immortals of the same breed could kill each other. Like Kane and Preach both being from the Shinan bloodline.

Unless, of course, it was Tabu wolf against Shinan wolf. They could do each other in without blinking.

Maybe that was it. He missed having family nearby, actual family, not brothers made so because of some club. Perhaps it was time to escape the ’pound and return to Texas.

That didn’t feel right either, though. He hadn’t given his family much thought in over a century. Why would he care now?

Besides, like it or not, the moment that crazy renegade Native American, Queho, had uttered his spell, Tex had become a member of the El Dorado canyon pack, and even though the gang drove him nuts sometimes, he wouldn’t give them up for the world. The thought of losing connection to a group again, family or not, distressed him.

He shook his head. “I assure you, Thumbs, I’m good. Just something in the air bothering me.”

“Must have allergies. Come to garage. You help me with bikes. Air in there stinky. You’ll feel better.”

Tex followed Thumbs, thinking that tinkering on some engines couldn’t hurt and might even help get his mind off his uneasiness about what he’d been scenting on the breeze. Plus, it’d keep him out of trouble, like robbing a store.

The fragrance, reminding him of home cooked meals, brought up memories of happy times filled with laughter and love in the house with his mother and grandmother and other family members.

He’d always heard stories about wolf shifters discovering their mates due to scents they enjoy, but he didn’t believe he’d ever experience the phenomenon.

And the fact that he’d picked up on his mate?

It made his inner animal stir with sexual desire again.

Maybe his life was about to get interesting after all.

* Politics has never been so sexy!
* Cade Avery is running for a position on his local county council. He’s extremely good at what he does and is a valuable asset to his community. The trouble is, he upsets people, says the wrong things, and rides rough-shod over other people’s plans and ideas. His assistant, Mary, eager to improve Cade’s public image, hires him a campaign manager.
* Quentin Rayworth is thrilled to be working with such a formidable public figure. It’ll be a challenge, but he’s confident he can help Cade to win the election, and knows that the achievement will look impressive on his CV.
* It’s soon clear that the two men are set to be an excellent team. That is, until Cade’s werewolf makes its intentions known—in Quentin, it has found its mate, and it will not rest until he has claimed him. But can Cade—and his wolf—win over the campaign manager?

~ Excerpt ~

* “You’ve done what?” Cade Avery yelled, fixing his long-time friend and colleague, Mary Summers, with a glare. He slammed his hands down on his desk, making a bunch of pens jump and rattle, and causing water to splash over the side of his glass. “Why the hell would you do such a thing?”
* Mary, by now used to Cade’s temper and frequent outbursts, didn’t flinch. Standing firm on the other side of his desk, she calmly stated, “You heard me, Cade. I’ve appointed you a campaign manager. And as for the why, I think it’s pretty damn obvious.”
* “Not to me,” he grumbled, snatching a handful of tissues from the box in his top drawer and swiping irritably at the liquid he’d spilled. “Seems like an unnecessary expense.”
* With a heavy sigh, Mary replied, “Do you want to win this bloody election or not?”
* “Yes, of course I do. What sort of a stupid question is that?”
* “Well then, you need a campaign manager. The rest of the team and I already have enough on our plates. We can’t handle that side of things, too. Not to mention the fact that you really need someone with … expertise … in that department. Someone who can boost your public image, make you more likeable … you know, so people will actually vote for you.”
* Screwing up the wad of soggy tissue and dumping it in the wastebasket beside him, Cade snapped his gaze to Mary. She stood, the ever-present iPad clutched against her chest, looking as determined and immovable as a five-feet-one, slim thirty-five-year-old was ever going to get.
* He sat back in his chair and folded his arms. “What’s wrong with my public image?”
* Rolling her eyes heavenward, her body tensing, Mary’s cool demeanor actually looked on the verge of cracking. Taking a deep breath and releasing it, she looked back at him. “Give me strength, Cade. Are you fucking serious?”
* She may have used the deep breath and probably a considerable amount of willpower to dampen down her physical reaction to his question, but her actual words gave her true state of mind away. As a rule, the word “bloody” was as bad as it got for Mary. To have enticed a “fucking” out of her, and within the same conversation, no less, meant she was in real danger of losing her temper with him. And despite her diminutive frame and usually chilled-out personality—especially in comparison with his huge frame and fiery personality—when she did lose it, she was utterly terrifying. Possibly the fact that she rarely got angry was what made it so potent when she did. Mary’s ire could turn even the thickest-skinned person into a blubbering wreck.
* “Mary,” he cooed, backtracking quickly, “come on, sit down. Why do you always insist on standing up in here?”
* “Because, unless we’re having a meeting, I don’t generally need to stay long. I normally impart my information, you give your feedback, and we get on with our day.” She shifted restlessly and narrowed her eyes. “But today, it seems, you’re having a bit of a brain fart. Do I really need to spell it out for you?”
* Raising his eyebrows at her increasing irritation, and wondering if there was something going on in her private life that was making her so touchy, he nodded. “Yes, I really think you do.”
* A few seconds of silence passed, in which Mary again seemed to be getting a grip on her irritation. She finally said, “All right. But don’t forget; you asked for it.”

This story is the first book in my series called Helldorado Mongrels MC. The series follows different immortal shifter families, a couple of humans, and the quest for stolen gold. It takes place in southern Nevada. I’ve been toying with the idea for this series for the past few years after catching an episode of Haunted Highway on Syfy regarding the Hellhounds of Eldorado Canyon.

In book one, Possessed by Him, two human brothers are returning to the canyon where, as teenagers, they had a frightening experience in a gold mine when confronted with wolves. Cameron, one of the heroes of this story, also can’t stop thinking of a man who’s been invading his dreams for years since the incident and is surprised when he comes face to face with him in the flesh.

Cameron and dream man, Gabe, are hitting it off and the trip is going pretty well until Cameron is kidnapped by a member of the Helldorado Mongrels MC.

Want to know what happens when Cameron finds out the guy he’s super attracted to is an immortal wolf shifter and if he escapes the Mongrels? Well, you’ll just have to read the book now, won’t you? *wink*

~ * ~ BLURB ~ * ~

Forced to return to a place of childhood trauma, Cameron Russell fears he’ll have to confront the specter of the past once again. Instead, he comes face to face with the man of his dreams. Literally.

Unbeknownst to Cameron, Gabriel Dyson would do anything to help his human mate realize his destiny, including playing savior and invading Cameron’s dreams. When they finally meet face to face, all seems to go well. Then a member of the Helldorado Mongrels MC kidnaps Cameron, putting Cameron in mortal danger again.

While restrained, Cameron is told a fantastical story of werewolves, which has to be myth…right? Yet memories flare to life—visions of bites and kisses—making him question everything about Gabe.

Can Cameron and Gabe’s cosmic connection, their choices, and their love surpass the secrets Gabe has and the Mongrels’ evil plans?

Cameron rubbed his clammy hands against thighs and took a deep breath.

The handsome man strode forward, his hand outstretched. “Hello. I’m Gabe, the tour guide.”

Holy shit. His eyes are sexy. Bedroom like. Almost wolfish. The way I’ve always dreamt them.

“Cameron.” He accepted Gabe’s handshake, and when their skin made contact, a sharp, electric sensation zapped Cameron hard.

An acrid, burning scent filled Cameron’s nose. The smell reminded him of the time his platoon had been out in the field for a training exercise during a rainy season. Lightning had struck close by the camp. Too near for comfort. All the men had complained about the ozone stink.

Had he been hit by a random bolt? A peek at the sky revealed not a cloud in sight. He took another lungful of air. Slowly the burnt fragrance interchanged with a faint pleasant smell. He could barely make it out, but it kind of reminded him of the holidays.

What he perceived as reality seemed to morph, bringing the time in his youth when he’d first seen the man at the campfire to touch upon the present moment where the man, Gabe, now stood. Once again, Cameron couldn’t help feeling like they were connected in some kind of cosmic way and that he knew the man who stood before him. Knew all his loves and hates, his quirks, the way the man would look at him with a dark and sultry, passion-filled gaze after they made love. Feeling like something clicked into place within him, it was as if Cameron had found a piece of his soul that he hadn’t realized was missing.

Just like I felt years ago. But how couldGabe be him?

The whole situation struck him as being uncanny, but so right at the same time.

Well said, Mate. The inner voice sounded like Gabe’s.

Cameron’s heart skipped a beat at the unbidden thought that popped into his head. Fighting the lust coiling within him and trying to calm his heart so it wouldn’t bang out of his chest, he reluctantly released Gabe’s hand.

“It’s such a pleasure to meet you, Cameron.” Gabe smiled.

There’s that grin I love. Cameron could have sworn the world slipped away and just the two of them were left. Him, alone with a stranger who wasn’t a stranger. He wanted to believe he stood before the love of his life, but he needed hard, tangible proof Gabe was who Cameron hoped he was. Not just some mystical, wishful thinking or facial expressions anyone could offer.

“Same,” Cameron managed to croak, then he cocked his head. Maybe if he played it cool and poked around with the right questions, he could figure out what the hell was going on. “We’ve met before, haven’t we? I feel I’ve seen you somewhere, like we already know each other.”
