a look at ‘Cataclysm’ by Robert F. Lundrigan #SciFi #Fantasy @SDSXXTours

Cataclysm: Survival in a Barren World
by Robert F. Lundrigan
Genre: SciFi Fantasy
The story is told from two points of view. The Clark family finds themselves seemingly alone on a barren planet while an alien named Pzx is in charge of the fleet looking for a home. She is under orders but would prefer to communicate with other beings. This is a tale of the struggles of both of them as they seek to survive in a barren world.
Robert F. Lundrigan is a certified member of APICS and former Manager of Materials at General Electric. A native of Massachusetts, he graduated from Lowell Institute in Mechanical Engineering and later attended technical and creative writing workshops at Harvard. He has helped several companies as a consultant to improve profits by using the theory of constraints, with great success. Bob has written numerous articles for professional journals, this is his second novel.

My granddaughter, Amy, was pregnant with her second child in 2011 when her doctor told her that the baby needed to be aborted because its heart didn’t develop properly and was only half a heart. Her own heart was broken but she was determined so she went to a specialist at Boston Children’s Hospital, a place where miracles are performed every day. It was a long hard pregnancy with less than one percent probability of survival, but Amy was determined. When the proper time arrived the surgeon took the baby by ceasarian section and within the first hour of its birth performed a life saving open heart surgery on the tiny heart, followed by two more open heart surgeries before little Sammy was two. He never ate solid food until he was three, but was fed through a plastic tube directly into his stomach. It’s a miracle beyond imagination, but little Sammy is a happy, healthy little guy with a smile for everybody he meets. To know him is to love him. I am donating all proceeds I receive for Cataclysm to “It’s My Heart, New England”, a charity to help the children and families of CHD in non medical ways. On June 24th of this year there will be a family walk and picnic at Endicott Park in Danvers Massachusetts. For details go to walk.itsmyheartnewengland.org. Sammy will be here and so will I. Here’s a picture of Sammy sitting amongst a former years picnic tshirt

Blurb

Escaping the king’s harem, Lahna finds herself at the mercy of a warrior prince who holds her captive and makes no secret of his desire to have her. Lahna hasn’t fled from one tyrant only to become the captive of another, and she certainly has no intention of warming the bed of the fearsome prince…even if he does make her body burn and her senses reel.

Caelan suspects his voluptuous captive may have been sent to spy on him and discover his plans to liberate his land from the tyrannical rule of the king. But her arrival provides him with the perfect opportunity to set those plans in motion. First, that means making her his, and in doing so he might just satisfy the craving for her that heats his blood and fires his loins.

But can Caelan really trust her? And can Lahna trust him to keep her safe when it matters most?

He had markings on his skin, the type that were forbidden by the king. What looked like intricate black ribbons circled his muscled upper left arm. He also had scars along his right arm, the kind made by weapons of battle.

He caught her staring at him and she looked away, sipping at the water again.

“You find something of interest?”

She swallowed before glancing back at him. “You are not what I expected.”

His expression darkened and a tension moved into his big body. “Indeed. And what did you expect?”

At the coldness in his eyes, Lahna reached for her inner strength and all the bravado she could muster. “You wear the marks of battle and your hair is long.”

His gaze held hers, searching for some hidden answer for which she didn’t know the question. Then he leaned closer. “Before anything else, I am a warrior. You would do well to remember that.”

She pushed her head back into the pillow as he leaned farther down. When her stomach pitched again, she wondered at the wisdom of eating too much bread. Except this feeling didn’t feel like over-indulgence.

Only when he straightened did she breathe once more.

“What is the name by which you are known?”

What kind of game was he playing? Of course he knew her name. “Lahna,” she sneered, lifting her chin.

He said nothing, but narrowed his blue gaze directly at her.

She wouldn’t be intimidated. “How long am I to remain here?”

“As long as you wish.”

“As I wish?”

Pointedly, he looked around him. “Do you see locks on the doors? Bars on the windows?”

No, she didn’t, come to think of it. At least, none that were visible. But was it a ploy? Was he trying to lull her into feeling secure and then he would pounce? She didn’t trust him. Couldn’t afford to trust him.

“There are more ways to imprison a woman than with locks and bars.”

“Why would I want to imprison you?”

Was he genuinely trying to provoke her? “That’s why I’m here, isn’t it? I’m little more than your prisoner, your captive. I appreciate you letting me regain my strength before I face my fate, but I would prefer to have an indication of what to expect when I am back to full health. What is to be done with me?”

“Now why would you expect that I intend to do anything with you?”

Infuriating man. He was toying with her like an animal trapped in a snare.

“I am in your quarters, am I not? Why am I here if not to be punished in some way?”

“May I remind you that you sailed into my waters uninvited? Had I not plucked you out of the reef, you would now be food for the fish.”

Sailed into his waters? Uninvited?

Everything inside her grew warm. Had she truly made it out beyond the horizon to where she had heard people lived freely? Unencumbered by the king’s tyrannical rule?

Her heart began pounding with joyful relief at the thought she might be free. But if that were so, where was she? This man spoke the same language, ate the same foods.

Maybe it was a trick and the king had meant to test her, find out why she had tried to escape. Had he tasked her guard to ingratiate himself with her, to learn of her plans, her reasoning? To pretend that he didn’t know who she was?

Yet, if this man really didn’t know her identity, and had no idea from where she’d come, maybe she had sailed far from the king’s clutches, to another land.

Regardless, she had to play things very carefully. It didn’t matter where she was. The king’s reach was vast. This man could be in the king’s employ whoever he was, and wherever he lived. The islands that were now under Zomotian rule would never dare go against their new ruler, the king.

She had to think. Had to remain vigilant.

The man surveyed her closely, suspicion heavy in his hypnotic gaze. “When your health is recovered, I will arrange for you to be sent back home.”

Grasping for courage she didn’t feel, she angled her chin into the air. “S…sent back?” Everything inside her went to ice.

a look at the Sacred Amulet Duet by Kiru Taye #Paranormal #Fantasy #Romance @KiruTaye @lovebitessilk

Title: Outcast & Sacrifice
Series: Sacred Amulet
Duet
Author: Kiru Taye
Genre: Paranormal /
Fantasy / Romance
OUTCAST (Sacred Amulet, Part 1)
Ugo’ji
is an outcast, an untouchable. She lives on the fringe of society as the lowest
of the low, a living sacrifice to the gods. The only person she interacts with
is her aged grandmother who nurtures her powerful gift of healing. Until the
day she meets Ebube a strange warrior to their lands. He ignites a yearning
within her she’s unable to ignore.
Ebube
is drawn to the young maiden with the emerald green eyes who possesses the body
of a goddess and the healing touch of an angel. But he is forbidden from mating
with a human and the consequence is the wrath of the gods.
Moreover
he is on a mission. If he fails, the gates of hell will be opened and the earth
plunged into darkness. He cannot stay and she cannot go with him.
EXCERPT
A
twig snapped. Ebube froze for a heartbeat. Unsure of what was approaching, he
reached for his scabbard still strapped to his hips.  Without making a noise, he withdrew the
dagger in a slow fluid motion. The trees and shrubs around him provided some
cover for him. He wouldn’t be seen until he was ready to attack.
Footsteps
walked in his direction. Human? Knife poised to strike, he manoeuvred his
aching body into a crouching position.
As
the leaves of the shrubs in front of him parted, he swung his leg out tripping
the creature. The person tumbled down onto the ground beside him and he
pounced, his dagger already on its downward motion.
Then
he froze.
It
was a young woman.
“No!”
Her scream rent the air as his arm stopped mid-swing. His grip on his weapon
tightened. His other hand held her side down firmly. Soft, smooth, warm skin
trembled beneath his palm.
He
stared at her, fixated by her allure. The shape of her face reminded him of an
eagle’s egg, beautiful and fragile, full of inner strength. Eyes the vibrant
green of okra twirled in the cream of ukwa stared back at him with fright. They
held him captive and he fell into their depths, barely aware of his increased
breathing and heart rate.
Mine.
For the first time today, his spirit beast roused, alert and pushing to get to
the fore.
What?
The feral creature living in him had just laid claim to the maiden which made
her…  Mine. The word whispered again in
his mind.
This
girl was his bond mate? The woman destined to be his life partner? This
couldn’t be. She was human. Her life force undulated beneath his skin as proof.
He
was Ure, part human and part god. A supernatural being. He wasn’t permitted to
bond with humans.
But
his spirit beast had never risen before without the amulet to connect them. Yet
it had done so on this occasion.

SACRIFICE (Sacred Amulet, Part 2)
Mating an outcast requires a
blood sacrifice.
Ebube
has rejoined his warriors on the hunt for the sacred amulet but his heart is
left behind with Ugo. He’s focused on completing his task and returning to her
quickly.
Ugo
has found a new confidence since Ebube’s departure. After saving a child’s
life, she is now in demand for her skills and those who had previously ignored
her now take an interest in her. Her quiet moments are preoccupied by thoughts
of Ebube’s return.
But
the gods are not so forgiving or forgetful and they will demand a high price
for Ebube’s and Ugo’s disobedience.
EXCERPT
Ebube’s
favourite dream involved waking with Ugo beside him in his home on the Amauwa
settlement.
There
they had a good, simple, and happy life. Peace in the realms and the warriors
at home.
She
placed a kiss to his face, the tip of his nose and his closed eyelid before
whispering, “good morning.”
Half
befuddled with sleep he reached for her, hand settling on her hip as he
struggled to stay still, needing her in ways that he couldn’t always express.
“The
morning is good because you are here,” he replied in a voice still gruff from
the night.
“You
are awake,” her voice was filled with amusement.
“I
am now.” He cracked his eyes open and filled them with a vision of Ugo dappled
in dawn’s grey light.
A
smile played on her lips even as strands of her braided hair brushed over her
shoulders and plump breasts.
He
trailed his hand down her smooth back over the curve of her waist to her wide hips
and pliant buttocks swell over long legs that he now pulled down on either side
of his so that she sat astride of him.
In
the time that he’d known her, her body had ripened from that of a girl into a
woman.
He
had always been a man ready to go to war to protect the realms. Ready to put
himself in danger and journey to whatever lands his missions took him.
Now
he wanted to stay close to Ugo. To have her as a constant in his life. He
couldn’t imagine a future without her. A mate to share highs and lows and make
family.
“Now
that you’re awake, my warrior, what would you like?” She rolled her bum over
his groin.
His
breath hitched as he hardened.
“Precious,”
the endearment was hardly more than a groan on his lips.
She
had never been this bold before.
He
glanced up to find her smirking as she rolled her hips again. “Yes, my warrior.
I have exactly what you want.”
