a look at Loralynne Summers & ‘Alpha Bitch’ @LL_Summers @evernightpub #Shifter #Romance

Today we have author Loralynne Summers visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?

* As a child, Loralynne was always the student getting in trouble for talking in class and punished at home for making things up. Combining her ability to go on and on and her flair for storytelling, she naturally grew up to be a writer. Originally planning to write fantasy, her muse had other plans. Once she opened herself up to the whims of her muse, she couldn’t type her first sex scene fast enough and now writes romance. Loralynne lives in Upstate New York with her husband, cats, and children.
* Hello! Thank you for having me today! I’m so excited to share my new release, Alpha Bitch, with you. This story was a bit of a surprise to me. I never expected to write a shifter story. Vampires, yes – I’ve got more than one vampire story in the unfinished files – but I learned early on not to fight my muse and just go with it. I have to say, I am quite pleased with the results.
* I don’t know exactly where the idea came from. I can say that I was listening to a lot of Elle King, and the song Ex’s & Oh’s is basically Cassie’s theme song – it’s that “I don’t give a shit what you think of me” and “I’m not taking your shit” attitude that influenced the creation of Cassie. Currently there aren’t any sequels planned for this, but with being a shifter story, which involves packs, there are plenty of secondary characters to work with. So while it’s not a series at the moment, the possibility is there. I do have the feeling that there’s a story lurking out there, I just don’t know who it’s about, lol.

One runs free
* Cassandra Dumas is the Alpha of Stone Point, with no interest in bowing down to any man, let alone her fellow Alphas. At least, not until an accidental encounter triggers the mating bond. So when the High Council orders her to mate the heir of neighboring River Run, she is determined to find a way out of it to be with the only man she truly wants…
One is a captive
* Kieran Kimball is a caged wolf. Forbidden to shift, he chokes daily on his Alpha nature and serves Stone Point however the Alpha sees fit. Recently, he cares only to serve Cassandra. When she sends him away in advance of her forced mating, his world shatters. Until the unthinkable happens…
Together, they’ll change all the rules
* Cassandra is nothing if not resourceful. Outsmarting River Run is just one piece of the prize to be won if she can pull off the coup of century while keeping everyone important still breathing.

~ Excerpt ~

* Before she could convince her wolf to turn around—because she really didn’t want to have to take control and force a shift, leaving her bare-assed while traipsing through the cool woods at night—Kieran came into view. He stopped short at the end of the path.
* Her heart, among other parts of her body, warmed at the sight of him. Water dripped from his long hair and ran down his bare chest to disappear beneath the band of his jeans.
* “Cassie,” he said, surprise evident in his tone.
* Against her better intentions, she walked over to him and rubbed against his leg.
* “You shouldn’t be here,” he whispered. Regardless of his words, his hand traveled down her back, stroking her fur as she wound around him. If she were a cat she would have purred, the sensation felt so good. He smelled fresh and clean, as if he’d been bathing in the river. He fell to his knees, and she stood in front of him with her head resting on his shoulder.
* “Do you need something?”
* She whined in response and nuzzled him.
* Kieran’s arms came around her neck and he buried his face in her fur.
* “We can’t, Cassandra.” He pulled away and held the sides of her head gently, staring into her eyes. His own were nearly completely gold, as close as his wolf could get to the surface. “You have to go. You have to forget about me. Find another.” His voice was hard.
* She whimpered, responding to the authority within him and nearly giving in to the command. The reaction both amazed her and pissed her off at the same time. Cassie’s wolf shook her head and stomped a foot.
* “Yes. Go. Now.” Kieran stood and stepped back.
* Cassie shifted, heedless of her naked body, and stepped forward, reaching for him. Kieran’s jaw clenched and he swallowed hard before turning his back on her.
* “Go, Cassandra. It’s for your own good, and the good of our pack. Go,” he said over his shoulder, entering his cabin without another look at her.
* With an indignant huff, Cassie turned and stalked away, hoping he was taking a good long look at what he was rejecting.

* Flynn Gifford is enjoying a simple existence in a rural Derbyshire village when Caroline Rogers crashes into his life, barefoot and panicked.
* Their lives could hardly be more different—she owns a successful luxury hotel chain, and he’s a penniless nomad who’s off the grid—yet neither can deny the attraction that burns between them. As Caroline reluctantly starts to open up to him, Flynn finds himself divulging some secrets of his own, secrets he thought he’d take to his grave.
* But can a billionaire and a wild man ever make a relationship work, or will their secrets keep them apart?

~ Excerpt ~

* I’m busy minding my own business, clearing up litter in a field on the outskirts of Hartington when what can only be described as a crazy woman appears, seemingly from nowhere. She’s all wild-eyed, and her blonde hair looks damp. Her outfit is unremarkable, except for the fact she’s got nothing on her feet. Bright red toenails seem massively out of place in this rural village. She seems out of place. I’m not sure why I think this, but somehow, she just doesn’t appear to belong. So what the hell is she doing here?
* Normally, I steer clear of other folk unless it’s absolutely necessary, but this woman looks like she needs help. Serious help. If she’s crossed the road with her feet like that, then they’re going to be scratched to buggery, maybe even cut.
* Taking a deep breath, I chuck the empty crisp packet I’ve been holding into my rubbish bag. Then I place it next to the tree I’m standing beside and step out into the woman’s path. I’m used to people not seeing me—or behaving like they haven’t seen me, anyway—so I’m not surprised when she lets out a shriek that could wake the dead and freezes in front of me.
* “Hey, hey,” I say gently, holding my hands up placatingly. “It’s okay. I’m not going to hurt you. I just wanted to come and see if you were all right. I can’t help but notice you’re not wearing any shoes. You’re not hurt, are you?” The concern in my voice confuses me, but then my brain catches up. If this chick is so desperate to get away that she’s gone without shoes, then something’s wrong. Seriously wrong.
* I look around, half-expecting to see an angry husband chasing after her, or maybe even a shopkeeper. She could be a thief. Glancing at her again, I realize that can’t possibly be the case, unless she’s stolen something invisible. All she has are the clothes on her back.
* She still hasn’t spoken, so I try again, attempting to make myself appear friendly, welcoming. Not an easy thing when you’re over six feet tall and pretty wide, too. Also, the fact I haven’t had a change of clothes, shave, or a haircut for a while won’t help. I wouldn’t blame her if she ran away, to be honest. I must look a fright, but I haven’t peered into a mirror—or even a window—for a good few days, so I can’t be sure.
* “Sweetheart, please answer me. Are you hurt? Is there someone after you?”
* She looks around, then back at me. Shakes her head. I’m confused—if there’s no one after her, why did she look behind her?
* I crouch down. “Are your feet okay? Cut?”
* Finally, I get a verbal reply. “N-no. I mean, yes. They’re okay. Not cut. At least … I don’t think so.”
* She lifts each foot in turn, checking the soles. They’re fine. Now she’s answered another of my questions, too. Her accent doesn’t sound local. More like southern England. London, perhaps.
* I suppress an involuntary shudder. The thought of London, the big, dirty, smoky city, does not impress me. Horrible bloody place. But at least it explains why the blonde doesn’t appear to fit in. She’s not from around here.

Today we have author Rose Wulf visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?

* Rose Wulf is a giant romance fangirl. Hot, protective, sometimes even downright barbaric heroes and spitfire heroines are her favorites. Rose has been writing for as long as she can remember, and over the years she’s only grown fonder of it. The bonds between characters have always captivated her, and as an author those are Rose’s favorite things to play with – not always to the relief of her fictional babies!
* Behind the scenes Rose is a quiet personality. She enjoys spending her non-writing time with her German Shepherd, Shadow, her mom, and her friends. Be it a fun game of Cards Against Humanity or a relaxing movie night, Rose believes everything is better with company. As for her own romance, she’s still searching for her hero (and hoping that, when she does find him, he’ll be willing to cook!).

* Hello! Thank you for having me today! I’m super excited to share with you my latest release, LOST IN MAGIC (Night Shadows 4)!
* Nearly a year after losing her best friends to vampires, Allison Drake knows it’s time for a change. And a nice cruise to the Bahamas sounds like just the ticket. She meets a sexy man on day one and knows it’ll be the vacation of a lifetime. But she’s not prepared for passengers to start disappearing under mysterious circumstances, or the implications that follow.
* Mick Darringer is on the cruise not for the destination, but for the distraction. He needs to lay low and he knows the Council would never think to look for an earth witch on a cruise. It wasn’t part of his plan to meet a beautiful woman, but he’s not about to walk away. Ali captivates him from the moment he lays eyes on her.
* But it’s not long before they learn that this cruise has problems. Problems in the form of vampires.

~ Excerpt ~

* I should call Mick. He was bound to start worrying. And it wasn’t like she didn’t want to hear his voice. She was just worried the distance of a phone call would actually make her feel worse. You’re stalling. But calling herself out on her cowardice didn’t seem to be working this time.
* Ali nearly jumped out of her skin when someone knocked loudly on her door.
* She tightened her arms around herself and looked toward the locked door. Would it be Warner again?
* “This isn’t over, Ali,” Warner had said with one hand on the door handle. Whether he’d actually said it as a threat or she’d simply heard it is as one she’d never know. But it’d been nearly half an hour since that conversation and he didn’t strike her as patient.
* I wish these doors had peepholes. She didn’t understand why those things weren’t standard. But sitting alone on her bed wasn’t going to chase away whoever was at the door. Just answer it, tell them off, and then call Mick. He was surely waiting. It’d been a few minutes now since the announcement that the impromptu lockdown was over and they were all free to roam about the ship again. There was even the chance, she supposed, that the person at the door was Mick.
* That was the thought that finally propelled her to her feet.
* Still, her stomach clenched as she slid back the deadbolt. Just a peek. Mick was probably waiting by his phone. Why would he be worried about her?
* It was a long moment before Allison realized she was staring into concerned green eyes. Gorgeous, familiar green eyes. She almost felt like crying. Almost.
* “Mick?” As if that face could belong to anyone else.
* “Ali,” he said on an exhale. There was an echo of fear in that voice. “I was worried.”
* Her heart swelled and she opened the door properly, managing a smile. “Come inside,” she said. She didn’t want to be out and about in her hall at the moment.
* Mick didn’t need to be asked twice. He stepped in, waited for her to shut the door, and then promptly pulled her by the hips up to his chest. He found her lips hungrily and she moaned as his tongue slipped into her mouth.
* Ali curved her arms around his shoulders, letting one hand thread its way into his hair as their tongues danced. There was something in this kiss. Something more than attraction and opportunity. And whatever it was, she liked it. Wanted to lose herself in it.
* Which was probably why he released her lips moments later.
* “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice thick and his hands still heavy on her hips. Possessive. Comforting.
* Stupid tears threatened her eyes for a moment but she fought them back and rested her head on Mick’s strong shoulder. Lie. Tell him yes.
* “What’s wrong, baby?” This question was soft, washing right through her, punctuated by the arms he wrapped around her waist.
* She hadn’t really wanted to lie to him, anyway.
