What would you like to tell readers about yourself?

* I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate high-rollers. I try to write characters who aren’t cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box. I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

* When Heather Hart was a young girl, she met cowboy Tristan Roger and promptly lost her heart to the young rodeo clown. Twenty years later, Heather has been summoned by her dying grandfather to determine if she is worthy, being the last of the Harts, to inherit the family ranch.
* Only the man she’ll be competing against is none other than Tristan Rogers. She has one month to learn five things about the ranch and Tristan is given the task of “showing her the ropes”, so to speak. Heather recognizes her adversity and uses all the weapons in her arsenal to fight for the Hart Ranch, namely sex appeal and attitude aplenty.
* But Tristan can’t help but remember the young girl who had been more innocent and shy than this hellcat in high heels. As he tries to figure out what embittered her, Heather must transform into a woman worthy not only of her grandfather’s approval, but her own.
* This is a previously published work. It has been revised and edited for Evernight Publishing.

~ Excerpt ~

* At the poolside, she dropped her towel onto a lounger, slipped off her heels, and put a toe into the water to test the temperature.
* She then moved to the low diving board, jumped once, and dove in with a clean splash. She swam one lap, then another, and when she had completed her third, her gaze caught a pair of worn boots standing near the water’s edge. She stopped swimming and looked up at Tristan, whose frame was silhouetted against the twilight sky.
* His arms were crossed over his chest, never a good sign, but one that provoked Heather to turn on her tease.
* “Come on in, the water is fabulous. And I don’t mind if you skinny-dip.”
* “The stalls aren’t done. If they’re done daily, it would probably only take a few hours or so. If weekly, then the better part of the day. It’s been two days, Heather!”
* “I finished half of them.”
* “And the other half?”
* “I’ll do them tomorrow.”
* “What don’t you understand? Finish the stalls!
* “Don’t yell at me! I’m doing the best I can.”
* Tristan sighed and ran a hand over his face. “Heather—”
* “You never once said I had to be finished in a day,” she shot back. Tired of treading water, she swam to the side and hauled herself out.
* She saw his eyes widen a bit at her state of dress, or state of undress, as the case may be. The water sluiced over her skin, caressing her body like a lover’s touch. She slicked back her hair and caught his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed. The air around them suddenly thickened as lust hit her fast and hard. Her nipples tightened with need. Her pussy turned slick with desire. And the next thing she knew, she was in his arms, meeting his kiss with a savage hunger.
* He didn’t use any finesse or seduction, and he really didn’t have to. She matched his desperation, as if she were lost in the desert and had just found an oasis. Where this urgency came from, she had no idea. It wasn’t a feeling she’d ever experienced before, and she wasn’t quite sure if she liked it. She didn’t want to need him, she didn’t want to crave him, and yet she couldn’t get enough.
* He nibbled at her lips, sucking on each one before sliding them apart. He entwined his tongue with hers, initiating its own mating ritual. The lust that welled inside her skin was like a vortex, and she was helpless to avoid it. She snaked her arms around his neck, and rubbed her body against his like a cat wanting to be petted. She could almost hear her own purr. She twirled the hair at the nape of his neck, accidentally hitting his cowboy hat and knocking it off-center.
* The movement seemed to shock Tristan out of the sensual haze that engulfed them. His head snapped back and he stared at her with wide eyes. His chest heaved. “Tristan?” She reached for him again.
* But whatever spell had woven around them had already shattered. Without a word, he jerked away from her and turned to walk briskly back to the house.

~ Interview ~

How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
* A long time ago I had a few married friends who told me a story that for a year, they weren’t officially married because the preacher forgot to file the marriage certificate. I thought it was an interestingly weird story, and years later I used that premise as the basis for A Stranger’s Touch.
Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
* The hero is named after my grandfather, Gordon. I think it’s a wonderfully strong name that is not used very much. I’ve now used it twice in books.
Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
* I really like writing at Starbucks, although I don’t always get a chance. I like sitting in the public setting because people are fascinating to watch. Sometimes a stranger will give me that one little character trait I’m looking for. I drink a large hot tea, plug in my laptop and listen to soundtrack music through my earbuds as I write.
Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
* I usually plan out all the characters in my head but a lot of the story develops as I write. I’ll jot down a few things that need to go into the chapter, but I don’t outline.
How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
* Some books have a lot of my real life in them, and some books don’t. I usually put in a few real things simply because you write what you know. If you have in-depth knowledge about a subject it’s a way to make the character and story more authentic.
What are your upcoming projects?
* I’m finishing up the next book in my Forgotten Records MC series. I have a few other stories planned out in my head and a list that I want to work on, so we’ll see what sticks out in my head.

* Once upon a time Aubrey had married man and she thought was her happily ever, but years later she is a mere shadow of who she used to be because of his controlling nature. When she finally works up the courage to file for divorce when she receives some unexpected news…
* …Their marriage doesn’t exist. At least, not in the eyes of the law, making Aubrey a free woman.
* Giddy by the revelation, she meets the enigmatic Gordon St. Roth and decides to indulge in a one night stand, never realizing their paths were meant to cross more than once.

~ Excerpt ~

* Just the then bartender came over, interrupting her mental musings, and placed another drink in front of her. She frowned and looked up.
* “Oh but I didn’t-”
* “I did,” said the man who had sat down next to her.
* Aubrey finally looked toward the man and the drink decline she’d planned on saying dried up in her brain as her gaze locked with his. Holy hell, he was good looking. Like, firemen in a calendar hotness, with wide shoulders and muscles straining to burst from his expensively tailored suit. Grey peppered the black hair and that, plus the few faint lines around his dark brown eyes, were the only suggestion that he had several years on her. He regarded her unblinkingly and she felt her heart rate kick up a little as his gaze wandered over her face and skimmed down to her chest. She could feel his hot gaze linger a little on her pushed up breasts but instead of making her feel cheap or dirty, the admiration on his face turned her on.
* “I wanted to say thanks for letting me sit next to you,” he said.
* “Uh…what?”
* “This seat. Thank you for letting me sit next to you.”
* Aubrey did a quick glance around the small bar area and noticed that he had lots of other seating options. “Good pick-up line.”
* “I admit, I wasn’t sure that was going to work. I’m rusty at this type of thing.”
* She didn’t believe him for a second because a man as good looking as him certainly had no shortage of dates. Did white lies bother her? Once upon a time maybe, but right now she was riding the high of being free, as well as a drink that had been a tad more rum than coke. If the hottest man in the whole airport decided to flirt with her then she was going to enjoy it to the fullest. A balm to her wounded heart.
* “Thank you for the drink,” she replied, bringing her gaze back to his. Their eyes met, held, and butterflies erupted in her belly.
* He smiled, a very slow, sensual lift of his lips that made her panties damp. In an effort not to picture him naked, Aubrey grabbed her new drink and took a large gulp of the cool alcohol.
* He held out his hand. “Gordon St. Roth.”
* She slid her hand into his and the electric jolt of his touch caused wetness to flood her panties. God, when was the last time she was this turned on? What truly blew her mind was the fact that she’d just met him not ten seconds ago! That only seemed to solidify how pitiful her sex life had been.
* “Aubrey,” she said.
* He raised an eyebrow. “No last name?”
* “Not sure what it’s going to become Monday.”
* “Ah. A story.”
* “One you wouldn’t believe.”
* “I’ve got a few hours to kill.” He smiled, which made her heart thump a little faster. Damn, the man was lethal to her good intentions.
* She cocked her head. “So do I. But it seems hardly fair if I tell you a good story and you have none to share. Tit for tat.”
* “Since you insist, I can promise to share my every thought with you.”
* “And just why would I be interested in knowing your thoughts?”
* He leaned a little closer, close enough to whisper in her ear. His warm breath stirred the little hairs resting there, causing a little quiver to run through her body.
* “Because they’re all about you.”
* Oh my….

~ Lawless Hearts Q & A ~

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
* This story was first written back in 2009 and published through another house. However, I had always been a little dissatisfied not only with the way the story got away from me, but with the cover. Eight years later, with a lot of experience under my belt, I asked for the rights back to redo the story closer to the vision I had in my head way back then. I think historical ménages are interesting because living polyamorously could be classified as taboo and scandalous back then.
Q) Is this book part of a series? If so, can you tell us about it?
* No, this is a stand-alone. But I am interested in exploring the historic ménages more, so maybe in the future I will write more.
Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
* I had originally put a tornado siren in this book, but had to take it out after doing a little research. Church bells were originally used until the siren was invented, but the National Weather Bureau decided to ban sirens in 1887, even going so far as to ban the word “tornado”, saying it would cause more panic and chaos than it would help. It wasn’t until 1948, when a tornado ripped through Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, killing many people and causing millions in damages, that the decision was reversed. However, it wasn’t until the 1970s that sirens were officially used for tornadoes.
* Coming from Missouri, I can’t imagine NOT having those sirens!
Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?
* Most of the stories I write come from a desire to push my creativity. And to write what I’m interested in reading.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
* I love going to Starbucks to write. I grab a venti tea, maybe a bagel with cream cheese, pop in my earbuds and put on some inspirational music to get in the right frame of mind.
Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
* Mostly, no. But that has gotten me into some trouble with some of my stories, including this one. I get so far and I know where I want the character to go, but I lose the storyline. I try very hard now not to let that happen, so I try to plan a little better, but it still happens sometimes. Being a writer is a very organic craft, and you have to change and adapt as you learn your own style. I’m a “pantser”, meaning I write by the seat of my pants, but yes, it’s not the most disciplined way to write.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
* There’s a little bit of my own experiences in all my books, but I’m not one to kiss and tell! 🙂
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
* I’m working on the 4th book in my Forgotten Rebels MC. After that, I have a few more re-releases to work on since one of my publishing houses closed its door and I got the rights back. I have a few stand-alones to work on which should take me through the rest of the year.

~ Blurb ~

* Scharlie Thorn is very aware the townsfolk of Rock Ridge, Missouri regards her with pity. When she was fourteen, her stepfather attacked her, scarring her face. Her brother, Harlow, killed him in her defense, forcing him to run from the law.
* Ten years later, Cassidy Brooks and Garrett Webb come to tell her that Harlow has been murdered by a man who may have settled his sight on her. As the two men try to keep Scharlie safe, she learns that they are outlaws. And worse, Harlow was an outlaw, too.
* Scharlie has decisions to make. Does she trust Cassidy and Garrett when they tell her they want her? Or will she hand them over to the law? More than her life is at stake. Her heart is on the line, too.

~ Excerpt ~

* Then she turned away and headed back inside, leaving the door open. As she set the table, the men ambled in and Scharlie noted with a great degree of relief that they had put their shirts back on.
* “You didn’t have to cook for us,” Garrett said. “But we appreciate it.”
* Scharlie shrugged. “The least I could do. You tracked me down to tell me about Harlow when you could have easily sent a telegram or letter. Or worse, not told me at all.”
* “He was a good friend,” Cassidy replied softly. “Like a brother. He would have wanted us to take care of you.”
* Tears sprung unexpectedly to her eyes, so Scharlie hurried and sat to hide from having to look at the two men. As Cassidy and Garrett seated themselves, she cleared her throat.
* “He talked about me?”
* “Yes,” Cassidy said.
* “All the time,” Garrett added.
* “Did he…did he ever talk harshly about me?”
* “What do you mean?” Cassidy asked.
* Scharlie looked at him. Deliberately, she ran a finger down the scar on her face. “I was the one that forced him to leave Missouri. Because of me, he had to leave his home and I’ve wondered for so long if he hated me for what happened.”
* Garrett immediately shook his head. “Absolutely not!”
* Cassidy gently took hold of her hand, moving it away from her face. His thumb rubbed soothingly over her skin. “Garrett’s right, Scharlie. Harlow only talked lovingly about you.”
* The sincerity shining in their eyes was honest, and the tension riding through her shoulders relaxed. The weight she hadn’t thought she carried eased from her chest, and for the first time in years, her scarred face didn’t hurt so much.
* When Cassidy didn’t let go of her hand right away, she looked questioningly at him. His gaze met hers and the moment abruptly changed from loving and warm to magnetic and electric. Tingles shot up her arm that caused her heart to thump heavily as an odd awareness came over her, like how the atmosphere felt after a tornado had touched down, surreal and charged at the same time. Both men watched her closely, and though she wasn’t quite sure how to interpret the looks they were giving her, she was wise enough to know these men were out of her league.
* Scharlie cleared her throat and pulled her hand from Cassidy’s. Immediately she felt bereft without the warmth of his touch and strived to find her footing again.
